How your Heart Works Some good information can be found in this book, but the layout of the sections can be hard to follow.

The first few pages are anecdoatal stories and how history has viewed the heart as being a container for the soul, interseting enough but not very scientific. However some of the sections on new diagnostic techneques and imaging are quite interesting.

The latter section of the book again contains useful contact numbers and Web sites, together with a list of recommended reading.

This book is worth a look but dosen't contain the detail and is not as well presented as other books on these pages. Available from good book shops Priced around £5.99.

Understanding Corinary Heart Disease British Medical Assciation ISBN 1-898205-71-X

Understanding Corinary Heart Disease Another book published by the BMA. It's some 80 pages long and similar in format to the other books from the BMA.

This book focuses a little more on the mechanisim of heart disease, on what goes wrong and what can be done in the way of treatment. Again it has sections on tests that can be done on the heart. These include Angiogram, ECG, Monitoring blood pressure, and basically outlines what is involved in each test.

It has a nice little section on the various drugs tand their particular use.

A good book and great companion to Understanding Heart Failure, should be available at most chemists. Priced about £2.50p
